We’re so sad to hear the news about Dottie, she was a true blessing and a one of a kind special Lady! Dottie was a special guest at our very First Womens Conference about 15 years ago we loved her very much and her ministry and life will forever be a light to us!

My mother loved her deeply and now I’m sure they are together in heaven. We have lost a very special woman, and Heaven gained an angel. You will always be remembered by the lives you reached with your light!

God Bless her family during this diffcult time

Dear Lord,

Thank you for loaning such a special person as Dottie Rambo to such a torn up world.

Thank you for sharing your love and message through such a fine instrument.

Thank you for the gift she gave while suffering such pain.
Thank you for the gift you have given her by taking it away.

Now Lord, Help us to not be selfish in wanting her back, help us remember she gave her all to help us find what we lack.

I couldn’t believe my email which I received early Monday morning telling me that Dottie Rambo was killed in an accident. It is so tragic and my heart aches for this dreadful loss. I received an email with your comments, “Remembering Dottie Rambo” and that is how I have your address. America Online plays her songs on their AOL Radio practically every day. I always turn the volume up when she is singing.

I did not know she wrote, “Sheltered In the Arms of God”. It has been one of my favorites since I was a teenager and my sister, who was a church organist for over fifty years in Knoxville, introduced that song to our church. A soloist sang it. I feel in love with it the first time I heard it.

I don’t know anyone who is close to Dottie Rambo to write or send my condolences so I am sending them to you and your group, hoping you might mention that we care and are extremely saddened. I watched the biography of her when she was on television several years ago. You are right. She was a beautiful lady and always acted like a lady. So often we ladies forget how we should really act and should take a lesson from her memory.

Thank you for reading me condolences……to all the musicians who sang her songs, and all who just “sing”. My radio is on Southern Gospel music practically all day and all night. I just feel like all of you are part of my family, of which I am the sole survivor after losing five in less than three years. Your music has helped me tremendously in these heart breaking days. Thank you so much for sharing your words….and your musical talent with the rest of the world.

Sincerely,
Marion H Hubbs

4. Anna - May 13, 2008

Several years ago my father had the chance to spend an hour at the Ontario CA airport chatting with Ms. Rambo while they were waiting on flights. His admiration for her graciousness and genuiness were overwhelming. ” A true lady. So proud of her family. Very humble and personable.”
My father is an excellent judge of character.
Dottie Rambo was an inspiration to the world. I can’t wait to meet her in heaven. God bles and comfort her family and friends

5. Susie - May 13, 2008

I am so grateful to our Lord for the life lived by Ms. Dottie. She and her music have blessed my life and, yes, even the life of my dear Mama, who has been with the Lord for some years, now. Ms. Dottie’s music was and, forever, will be a blessing. Her life was a beautiful testimony that “the joy of the Lord is our strength.” A life lived for Christ is a life well lived. My prayers are for the family, as we are never ready to give up our loved ones, no matter how ready they may be to greet our Saviour.

6. D. Eric Hickerson - May 13, 2008

My family and I, who have ties with the Rambo family since before I was born, mourn the great great loss of this beautiful soul. But we rejoice in the fact the she is now “Teaching Angels to Sing” herself. Dottie’s death is a tragic loss to not the world of country and gospel music. But to the whole world. I remember, as a youth, volunteering at the nursing home where Dottie’s mother was a resident. Dottie and Buck walked in one day to visit her and I went to her and expressed my love for her music and the work that she had done for Our Lord. This lady was so gracious and appreciative of my admiration and issued several words of encouragement to me to hold on to my faith and love of the Lord. I cherish that meeting to this day. She asked about my grandfather whom she knew well, and it was I who had to informed her that he had passed just months before this meeting and she immediately issued her condolesences for our loss but just as quickly pointed out that papaw was now with Jesus and encouraged me to remember that.
The family of Charlie R. Davis, Jr. (Junior Davis), in Dawson Springs, KY, the home of the “Singing Rambos”, express to Reba and the rest of the family our sincere condlolenses and our love. We love your guys and will definately miss Dottie,

7. Gary W. Thurman - May 13, 2008

Reba, condolences on the graduation of your mother. Her songs, especially “Behold the Lamb” have truly changed the world one life at a time. What a legacy! “Weep not as those who have no hope.” Our living hope is in Jesus our Lord, and we know Dottie’s life is changed, not ended. Certainly she had her share of suffering in her 3/4 of a century of life, but that is all over now. And “We know that the sufferings of this present time are not to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed in us.” Dottie revealed God’s glory every time she opened her mouth to sing or took up her pen to write. She will never be forgotten.

8. Jack Sloan - May 13, 2008

What a great servant of God. Her songs were so inspirational.
I never got to see any of concerts live, however I never missed a
chance to see on Gospel T.V. Shows.

May God Bless and comfort her family. Heaven has another great
choir member.

With God’s Love,

As a struggling musician in Nashville a few years ago, I was standing in line behind Dottie at a resturant. We began to chat and ended up at a table together for an hour. She gave me such encouragement and even offered to co-write some children’s music with me. She was such a gracious Christian lady and we will miss her dearly!
What a great impact she had on the world through her annointed music.
In Him,
Darrell Bledsoe

10. Herald Gray - May 13, 2008

This is a great loss to the gospel faturnity, and my hearh goes out to Reba and the rest of the family. I met Buck and Dottie in 1975 at a US Naval base in Cuba (gtmo), on a album titled crossing over, I brought them to Jamaica with I live and introduce my church to the most inspired gospel songs I have ever listened to.

From ever since I have never stop to fallow this mother of the old time gospel that save’s souls, today I weep today I mourn, but I am glad to know she is singing on the holy hills of heave that calls her home, so from jamaica in the caribbean keep strong Reba my prayers are with you and all the family, we willall be crossing over soon where tears will never stain those streets to our mantion as she often said in her writings.
Dottie I miss you but you have left me with a challenge that I have to live right in order to see you over there so I dersire today is to stick to the task ahead so I will behold you and the saviour face to face.

11. Sheryl Delameter (AKA: Katie P. Jones) - May 13, 2008

I was a student at Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo. in 1970. In the morning chapel service I sang “He Looked Beyond My Faults” the Holy Spirit came down and we had revival for three weeks. Class’s were canceled and even Evangel College came over to join in with the revival and I am still singing Dottie Rambo songs. Thank God for Dottie Rambo !!!!

12. Glenn Fosdick - May 13, 2008

To the Rambo Family Ministries, the Gospel Music Industry, and to all that had the priviledge to have known such a great inspiring special lady.. what a testimony she is for all…. I send my sympathy to all.

I was very sadden to hear about the passing of Dottie but let me reassure you in not doubt she is certainly singing with the angels today. On many occasions I had to see her in concert, then I have seen her on TBN, and then I have sat down with her for a time of prayer or two.

We all will certainly miss her. Reba, Destiny, and Israel you were and are the apple of your Mom/grandmoms eyes. God be with you always.

As Dottie wrote: “I’m resting in the shelter of God” … and she’s “Teaching angels how to sing”.

Love and peace to all through God the father through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

14. Carol Schafer - May 13, 2008

She was truely a wonderful inspiration. I met her in 1995 and she was go sweet and friendly, very personable. My family and I have sang her songs for 40 years and will until either the Lord comes back or calls us home. Our whole family has a singspiration once a year for the evening church service and it seems there are always songs included that Dottie wrote. Every special occation our family gets together and sing and someone always wants to sing a song written by Dottie. We don’t think about Dottie writting it we just love the spirit of the songs, how annointed they are. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her because she did exactly what God put her on this earth to do, win the lost at any cost! Her reward in Heaven will be great and I know Jesus is glad today to have her really there with him. Now Reba can say, “Mama’s teaching Angels how to sing” and I believe it. Oh what a reunion that will be when we all get home. May God Bless and comfort her family and friends.

15. Richard Stokes - May 13, 2008

Dottie will be missed I had the pleasure of meeting her two weekends ago in nashville at the jamboree and she was a really sweet lady and god had really blessed her.

16. brenda - May 13, 2008

Heaven will shine brighter now and the earth will be a little bit darker for one of our brightest stars has gone home.Ms Dottie’s songs has been a blessing to me for forty years and will continue to be until the Lord calls me home to.My heart goes out to Reba and her family.Though she will be missed here it is such a comfort to know with out a doubt that she is with our Lord.

17. Betty Moss - May 13, 2008

I have loved Dottie Rambo for a very long time, I saw her at the Mayfair Bld. in tyler,Tx, I think it was in the 70′s, I & my children sang her songs back then. the Hulseys & I (trio) also sang her songs, then I lost track of her for a long time, then I saw her on the Gaither’s . I was so glad just to know she was still alive. In Nov.,2006, I was told she was going to be in The People’s Church, in Jacksonville, Tx. I was over-joyed, I couldn’t beleive, I was going to see her. It was so wonderful, I felt at times I was floating in the air, The Holy Spirit was working in her, & I cannot describe how I felt, but will never forget the expierence. I loved her so much, I can’t believe, that she’s gone, I know she’s havin a wonderful time in the Place , she wrote about so much.

18. Susie Patillo - May 13, 2008

I was at concert some years ago in the early 70′s. I cannot tell you what an impact that Dottie Rambo had on my life. I feel such an emptiness just knowing this earth will no more see the Dottie Ramo that we all came to love and appreciate. She protrayed God in all that she done. I watched her every time I could on TBN. I heard her tell the story once of how she came to write Holy Spirit Thou Art
Welcome In This Place, and I think of the true meaning behind it every time I lead in church. Thank God that He gave us Dottie for 74 years. Only eternity will reveal how much impact she has had and the souls that she has helped lead to Jesus. She is and will be missed for a long long time. My heart goes out to her family.

19. Tina Fricke - May 13, 2008

I had the pleasure of meeting Dottie and her good friends , Larry Ferguson and Chris when she came to my church in Sherman ,KY.
I really felt the spirit move when she sang and I know she left here shouting! We will all miss her ,but heaven has truly gained another special angel. I send prayers up to her family and friends , as well as the ones in the hospital still there. I am sure she has touched countless others in her life, but I appreciated her so much for coming to a small church to sing for us and spread the gospel. Of all the places she could have went and the celebrities that she has come across she still came for us. I felt truly blessed to have heard her and seen her. I know the Lord was holding her hand when she left. God Bless you ,Dottie! WE ALL LOVE YOU!

20. Paula - May 13, 2008

I have never met Dottie personally but her music has been such a blessing and comfort to me. I have been listening to her music every night when I go to bed to help comfort me and help me to sleep better. I have been ill and I discovered that her music so far has been the most help to me as of late. I am sure she will be missed by so many but all I can think of right now is her song, New Shoes and know that she has put on a pair of new shoes and her robe of white, has changed her location and reached her final goal! We will all miss you Dottie, you have left a place of comfort in many peoples lives. Her family and all involved in the accident are in my prayers.

21. PORTIA - May 13, 2008

NEVER MEET DOTTIE, BUT WILL MEET HER IN HEAVEN ONE DAY.
THE SONGS AND MESSAGES SHE GAVE TO THE WORLD WAS AWSOME TO ME NO OTHER WORD TO EXPLAINE THEM EXPECT HEAVENLY.
SHE HAS TOUCHED SO MANY HEARTS IN LIFETIME. AND SHE WILL LIVE ON IN THE SONGS THAT SHE HAS WRITTEN AND THE SMILE THAT WAS ALWAYS ON HER FACE

22. Doreen Ziegler - May 13, 2008

I saw the Rambos in concert back in 1977 or 1978. I was a gospel singer myself back in NE Ohio. I was a young mother with 2 toddlers at the time. When I saw Reva and Dottie sign some of the songs that they performed. I thought, well shoot I can do that! I had no idea what I was in for. However God lead me to others in the area who mentored me. I eventually became an American Sign Language interpreter and now hold national certification through RID. I am who I am today because of that concert and Dottie and Reva’s direct influence on me.
I have covered many of Dotties songs during the years and sometimes I just play the CD’s and wail along with her! I guess that will have to do until I go home, too!
I am mouning, yet rejoicing!

23. Tracy Banks - May 13, 2008

What an inspiration Dottie Rambo was to all who knew her and anyone who ever heard her songs. I grew up listening to The Singing Rambos as a child. In fact, I still have one of those albums from way back then. It’s amazing how God can use one person to touch so many. Thank you Lord for Dottie Rambo! Our prayers are with Reba and the family. May God continue to shelter you safely in his arms as He safely and forever holds Dottie.

24. Tracey O'neill - May 13, 2008

My Dear mother Dottie;
Ever since i was 7yrsold my parents always played your lovely records. My sisters and I would sing duets in our church and those songs always blessed me. There were tears, laughs, and just days of loving Jesus. I thank God for making a Angel of Gospel songs. Your songs brought me through school, divorce, and just battles of Depression. I thank you and mostly Jesus for creating such a beautiful christian lady.
My condolenses goes to the Rambo Family. Reba and children. I will never forget how much mama did for the Gospel and more. She is with Christ, and her legency will always be here on earth!

25. Apostle Kevin & Pastor Sonya James - May 13, 2008

To Reba, Donnie, and family;
We send you heart felt condelences from Triumphant Ministries in Donaldsonville, La. We met your family years ago in Lilburn, Ga. Dottie was a great blessing to us. I thank God for the Woman of God. The anointing was pure, holy, and when hearing Dottie sang to her Lord; it would usher you into His very presence. I could hear her now singing “We shall Behold Him” Oh my! I bet there is some serious worship happening at the Throne right now. Can ya’ll imagine Mrs. Dottie at His feet. I think we would have to add another 2500 songs. We are celebrating and praying with you.
Apostle Kevin & Pastor Sonya James

26. Becky - May 13, 2008

I was saddened to hear the news about Dottie. I started listening to her on various gospel shows about 15 years ago. I was going through a very rough time then and her songs and sweet words gave me a sense of comfort and I will never ever forget her. She was a true legend and nobody will ever be able to fill her shoes. I take comfort knowing that just like the words of her song, DEFEAT was one word that she never used.
Rest in peace sweet wonderful lady.

29. Pastor Bill Bowman,New Life Church & Ministries,Hillsboro,Ohio - May 13, 2008

To the Rambo family,My condolences.I first met Dottie in 1992 at the Nashville Airport. She and I flew to Indianapolis together. We were the only ones on a 22 passenger plane. She shared many personal things with me and gave me her phone number to keep in touch. When I called her in a couple of days she said “I talked to a friend and told her all that I had told a coplete starnger and said I hope he’s not some nut!” We kept in touch over the years as the Lord gave me some prophetic words for her.She was the Woman of God that everyone saw publicly when she was in private. I know that all Heaven is still rejoicing with her arrival. Her untimely passing is reminder to us all that we must always be ready to meet Jesus.
Reba and family our prayers are for the Comforter to come and wrap his loving arms around you in the days and months to come.

30. Pastor Randy A. Gibson - May 13, 2008

We have certaintly lost a legend of the gospel music. When I got saved one of the first groups I listened to was the Rambo’s. They encouraged me to live for Jesus by the words of their great songs. There will never be another Dottie Rambo. I rejoice to know she is with Jesus the one she sang and wrote about. I tried for years to get to meet her but didn’t get a chance to but I will meet her one day in Glory. My prayers for Reba and all the family. We love you all and will be praying for you. Pastor Randy Gibson

31. Rev. Betty Walling - May 13, 2008

Reba, Dony and Family.
Your mother wrote music in the style I could play with the “shape” notes. My husband and I sang a large nuber of her songs i the churches we pastored. He could play numerous instruments and enjoyed playing along with her.
For the past 2 or 3 years Dottie, her prayer team have joined with me praying over needs that came in. I believed her when she said “I will pray.”
To the grandchildren – hold dear to your heart every memory you have of your grandmother. Do not try to live her dreams but make your own dreams because of her influence in your life.

32. Miss Dinah George - May 13, 2008

Reba, Dony and Family : I am so sorry to here about your sweet and precious mother Dottie. I met her one time at Calvary Assembly Church of God here in Decatur Alabama. I thought that she was a very sweet, preacious and a very beautiful lady. Last year I started to leave a church that I dearly love, but God spoke to my heart and told me to stay put, and I chose to obey Him and when I told God that I would stay at this church that I now attend. and when I went to bed, the song I’m sheltered in the Arms Of God came to me. as I laid there in in my bed. I felt God holding me in His Ams and holding me close to Him. So I know what our sweet little Dottie was talking about. because I am also Sheltered in the Arms of God. God Bless you sweet and precious Dottie. Reba, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your sweet family. with all my love Dinah

33. Tony Bolivar - May 13, 2008

“Here I am, on the other side of the land
Wish that I could be there to hold your hand
And I don’t know, how to say just how I feel
But I know my thoughts and prayers for you are real.

I wish you peace, I wish you hope
I pray for love, and friends to help you cope
And as you grieve, and do what you must do
Know there’s someone in this world who grieves with you.

I know its hard, and we never know just why,
You didn’t get the chance to say goodbye
But keep your trust, and your faith in God above
You’ll meet again, and you’ll never lose that love

So tell your friends, they’re praying down in Texas
And way out west, the California way
Though its hard now, we have this precious promise
That soon, there’ll be a brighter day!

There will be peace, there will be hope
So share God’s love with all the friends who help you cope.
And as you grieve, and do what you must do
Know there’s someone in this world who grieves,
Someone in this world believes
Someone in this world who grieves with you.

words and music by Tony Bolivar

Reba, I never met your mom, but I met you and Dony. My life has been enriched by your ministry. “I Go to The Rock, and “We Shall Behold Him” are some of my all time favorites. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of earth’s loss and heaven’s gain.

34. Charlie Sininger, Jacksonville, Florida - May 13, 2008

To the family, friends and staff of Ms. Dottie Rambo,
Words are not enough to convey my thoughts and prayers for you as you go THRU this time of grief. As you undoubtedly know, we do not know the ‘why’s of this world, only to trust on our Lord Jesus Christ. I can remember at a very young age my Mother having on Dottie’s albums around the house in Evansville, Indiana. Not far from Dottie’s home.

She had the words to “Too Much To Gain To Lose” on a cabinet door as a reminder to all of us to keep on keepin’ on. If I know my Mother, she was the first one after Buck to greet Dottie and they are singing on the Golden Streets of Heaven heading to the throne room. Dottie is truly ‘Sheltered In the Arms of God’. No pain in her body, only shouts of joy.

You’re in our prayers.

35. Jo Ann Raney - May 13, 2008

I was so sad to learn of the accident which claimed the life of dear Dottie Rambo. I have sung her songs through the years and they made it seem as though I knew her personally. What a great gift to this world was her life and testimony! It was a dream of mine to meet her some day so that I could tell her how much I appreciated her for sharing her music with us. My sympathy goes out to her precious family; let’s all keep singing her songs until we can join her in heaven. Well done, thy good and faithful servant; rest now until we meet again!

36. Jeanie - May 13, 2008

I first heard her voice on KDMI FM in Des Moines, Iowa in the mid-60′s singing “Remind Me, Dear Lord.” The Rambos became the voice of the life-song of my family. We’d all get together to sing and 95% of all songs were Dottie’s. On several occasions we traveled to see them and my mom never quit telling the story of getting to meet the most gracious and beautiful Dottie Rambo.

About 10 years ago, I started re-collecting the old vinyls of her music (we’d had every single one of them as I grew up), because they are just such an integral part of my history and just a couple of weeks ago, my siblings and I had ordered the 20 CD collection of Rambo albums from http://www.dottierambo.net for my mom for Mother’s Day. Dottie is the voice, her words the words in the song of our lives.

It was my mom, when I called her on Mother’s Day, who told me through broken voice that Dottie Rambo had died. We mourn the loss of her here, but thank God for the legacy of worship and honor to God she has left for the generations to enjoy.

37. Gayla Forester - May 13, 2008

I remember “The Rambo’s”, featuring Buck, Dottie and Reba back in the 70′s. I have always loved Dottie’s songs, alot of them got me thru some pretty rough times in my life. Ous loss is Heaven’s gain. Dottie is shouting on the hills of glory. Her music will live on and will be a blessing for many generations to come.

38. Nelda Smith - May 14, 2008

I will forever remember this precious lady, and what a lady she was! I firt heard Dottie at a chuch here here in my hometown in West Monroe La.. I’m guessing it was probally the year 1969. My mother had several “Singing Rambos” albums and I am so blessed to still have them album today. However as much as I was blessed the many times listening to the albums I continue to be blessed by “the Singinging Rambos” on cds. Though the years I have loved that lady and was thilled beyond words to meet my friend. Larry Ferfuson took me backstage to meet her and I have never been the same since. Meeting herand seeing that she was the real deal. I felt that I made a very special friend that night, and got to see her a few weeks later and it was like seeing and old friend. She made you feel so special, and I wll always rember that sweet lady She has been such an influnce in my life. She will always be in my heart. Thank you again Larry for giving me the oppurtunity to tell her how much I loved her and what she meant to me.
God bless all of you and know I will be praying for you

39. Linda C. Huggins - May 14, 2008

Reba, all family members and “extended” family you are in my thoughts and prayers. As a teenager in the late 60s and early 70s I had the privilege to hear The Rambos and The Happy Goodman Family in concert several times at Goldsboro High School in Goldsboro North Carolina.

What a cherished memory. You didn’t have to hear your voices to know that you love the Lord. Your witness was in the smile on your faces and the gleam in your eyes. The songs were just an extention of your inner joy.

I know that God will wrap his loving arms around you and bring you through this difficult time.

We have truly lost a great and precious lady of faith. God called his faithful child home to rejoice forevermore.

40. Dee - May 14, 2008

I think I have every album the Rambos ever recorded. There will never be another Dottie Rambo. Her songs were written under the anointing of the Holy Ghost and that is a rarity these days. They moved you to tears. What I like best about Dottie’s songs is how often she wrote of heaven. She always seemed so anxious to go. The world has lost a legend and a friend of God. I will miss her.

41. Dayle Allen Shockley - May 14, 2008

I’m deeply saddened by the death of Dottie Rambo. I first became acquainted with Dottie in the early 60′s. My parents and big sister sang together in a trio and performed with the Gospel Echoes on one or two occasions. I was just a little girl but, how well I remember the impact Dottie had on me. I wanted to be just like her–she was stunningly beautiful. I wanted to sing like her (she had the voice of an angel), play the guitar like her, smile like her, wear my hair like her. I wanted to BE Dottie Rambo. I idolized her.

As I grew into a teenager, Dottie remained my favorite singer. My twin sister and I formed our own trio with our big sister during these years, and we sang so many Dottie Rambo songs. My favorite may well have been, “One More River.” I had the lead on that one and always hoped I sounded a little like Dottie. I didn’t, of course, but I hoped I did anyway.

As an adult, my admiration and respect for Dottie only grew. I became aware of some of the personal and physical struggles she endured, and her ability to keep going never ceased to amaze me. She never gave up. She never quit. And above all, she never neglected the gift that God had given her. Through every storm, she seemed to rise stronger each time. She was one amazing woman.

The songs Dottie penned are some of the greatest gospel songs ever written, period! What an incredible talent and gift she possessed. Her love for the Lord was obvious in all of her songs, her longing for heaven apparent. The world has lost an incredible lady. I mourn her death, but it’s comforting to know that she died doing what she loved to do.

May God bless and comfort those closest to her, and may God strengthen those who were injured during this tragic accident. My prayers are with you all.

42. Teresa Gordon - May 14, 2008

I walked into my office Monday morning and scaned the internet and was shocked to read that Dottie Rambo had been killed in an accident. It seems strange that I felt like a family member had died, though I had never met Dottie. When i was a child of about six years old my Daddy use to pay me twenty five cents to sing Dottie song “The Good Old Days” at the church he was pastoring. Even after my Daddy past away my mother continued raising her children under God fearing preaching and Dottie Rambo singing. During my teenage years I’ve watch my mother walk the floors praying the lyrics of Dottie Rambo’s songs over her rebelious teenagers. And thanks to God, Mama and Dottie I am now 51 years old and have gone through some of those late night walks with my teenagers also. I am going to keep all my mothers old Dottie Rambo albums for my daugfhter and son to use during their late late nigh walks with God and Dottie Rambo.

My heart was saddened to hear of the passing of Dottie Rambo. The first time I heard the Singing Rambos in person was @ Music Hall in Cincinnati, Oh and I was about 12 yrs old. Dottie’s life and music has always made an impression up on my life. My friends use to call me little Dottie because my voice was so low and still is. I like many others have sung so many of her songs. She has left such a legacy of her music and songs. Reba and her children and their children to come will carry on Dottie Rambo. I thank God for sharing her with us all of these years. I believe that she fell asleep In the Arms of God and felt no pain. The Holy Hills of Heaven called her and she went home. I can see her standing there singing ” We Shall Behold Him” Oh my what a Jubilee that must be going on up there right now. Dottie Rambo will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you Dottie Rambo! I love you! and Thank God for her life.

44. Angel Fayard - May 14, 2008

Dottie was a true Saint here on earth. I had the privelege of learning so much from her over the years. I know she is running on streets of Gold now in heaven, we will miss her on earth, but she gained her heavenly home and crown of jewels, for a job well done here on earth. My prayers are with Judy, Larry, Piece, Christian, Chris, and Ronnie. I pray healing upon all of them and I will continue to always pray for them and their families. I will be in prayer for Reba, and her children, as I know “GRAND DOT” will be watching over them always.

Thank God I had an opportunity to meet and spend time with Dottie over the years and I will always remember what a true Saint of God she was here on earth.

I got to hear Dottie Rambo one time in 1974. What a wonderful time in the Lord we had. She sang, she preached, she played the guitar. She even called Elvis that night! Her songs have truly been a blessing to me and to my mother who loved to hear her sing. She was a lady of grace and I was so saddened by her passing. She had written so many songs many years ago in her life that prophetically came to pass in her death. Songs with words such as: … “one more curve in life’s road, maybe one more mile to go, you can lay down your heavy load when you get home.” Or, “Soon I shall hear the call from heaven’s portals, Come home my child, it’s the last mile you must trod, I’ll fall asleep and wake in God’s new Heaven, Sheltered safe within the arms of God.” Or, “Just build my mansion next door to Jesus, and tell the angels I’m coming home..” Or the last songs she sang, “I’m Gonna Leave Here Shoutin’” and “We Shall Behold Him.” What a legacy! What a Lady! What an assett to the field of Southern Gospel Music. Rest In Peace, Dottie. We Love You. Now you and Mama are “Teaching Angels How To Sing.”

48. Carol Carter` - May 14, 2008

I guess I am alone in this, but I am angry about Dottie’s unceremonious departure. “No good deed goes unpunished”, apparently. I most definitely “Question the loss of a loved one”, in this case, and feel this great servant, small in stature, but huge in heart and spirit, should have had a much kinder exit. I guess I don’t know God at all — thought I did. Oh well, back to the drawing board. Goodbye Dottie, dear. We’ll most certainly miss your darling heart and tremendous talent. Carol in Minneapolis.

49. JANE EVANS - May 15, 2008

53. William Crosby - May 15, 2008

I read the post from Carol in Minneapolis who feels she doesn’t understand God the way she thought she did. Life is a struggle and we were promised much sorrow while here on earth, but our time spent on earth is such a miniscule span of time compared to eternity. Dottie has finished her race, she has won her prize. To be honest, I seldom even notice the writer of a song, but it was different with Dottie’s music. Her music had her very own mark on it regardless of what style it was, who was performing it or whether it was performed in a secular setting or a religious setting. Even when sang in a secular venue, it was IMPOSSIBLE to disguise the spirituality of the song.

I really think that if Dottie could speak to Carol in Minneapolis, she would tell her to REJOICE knowing she is in heaven! Virtually every song I heard of hers was encouragement and guidance on how to get through the hard times–all the time keeping our eyes on that prize of heaven. In one of the interviews released on DVD Dottie makes a statement, after having been through some horrific trials, that “she was going to run to heaven just as hard as she could”. That is just what she did, too. We received the newsletter from Larry while they were on the road Saturday night having closed a concert in Illinois and they would be driving through the night to reach their next concert in Texas on Sunday morning. When I heard the news of the tragic accident, I knew that I had just received the email newsletter and re-read it. It had to have been written within a couple of hours of the accident. I am sure that Dottie did not have to keep that kind of grueling schedule to make a living, but I believe she did it as ministry. When I got the news of the accident I immediately thought about her statement about “running to heaven”. That is about what she was doing. Her statement about “running to heaven’ had nothing to do with being anxious to get to heaven, but instead in context it meant that in appreciation for God giving her strength, she was going to work as hard as she possibly could in ministry.

Dottie is beginning to learn now the impact her choice to use her God given gifts for the Giver of all gifts, but somehow I think it matters less to her now than ever. I think it is absolutely impossible to even imagine the impact she, as a woman who gave much more than she got, has had and will have on this world. It is impossible to measure.

To her family (which I know includes the Ferguson and Barnes family) you are even more blessed than her fans, because you were blessed enough to be part of her inner circle. I am sure it has made an impact on you that will never be erased. I am praying for God to sustain you and to bring complete healing.

I was very excited about some of the new projects coming out, and I really hope they were far enough along with the projects to be able to finish them and release them. I know those works were very special to Dottie.

Dottie was a blessing, and she will continue to be a blessing for many years to come. Dottie’s music has helped me through some very desperate times. They began to help me even more when I began to learn more about who Dottie Rambo was and what she was about. I found a very warm, encouraging friend although we never met. I did attend a concert about 30 years ago. There are many people who practice, study and rehearse to be able to do things that were very natural to Dottie. She was always completely capable of reaching people, whether in concert, on television, through her recordings and in her written music. That quality is a rarity. Many performers, both gospel and secular, can pander to an audience, and I am sure Dottie could have done that also, but she had no need to do so. Her words, whether spoken, sang or written ALWAYS transcended far beyond communication and touched us in the deepest darkest parts of our heart and soul.

We are going to miss you, Dottie. We will all see you in heaven one day!

After a church service in Roanoke, VA where the Rambo’s were singing, my twin friends and I were privileged to go with Dottie and family to the Pastor’s home for a tour. After we came back to the church, Dottie asked my friends and I if we would drive them out to a drive-in restaurant to get something to eat. She and Bucky got into my friend’s 1963 Chevrolet and off we went to get something to eat. We sure enjoyed that time with the Rambos and will never forget the sweet memories of all their preformances we were privileged to attend. God Bless the family during this great time of loss, but I am sure they know Dottie is singing around the throne.

WILSON MWANGI from Kenya East Africa.I learnt about Dottie’s departure to meet her saviour this morning after my wife heard the announcement from our local christian TV station,TBN FAMILY TV.I have always been blessed by her inspired music esp when watching her minister in Benn Hinn meetings.
May the Lord of all comfort remember her family. Our sister is now BEHOLDING HER SAVIOUR AS SHE ALWAYS SANG.It’s painful for the family and all like myself who loved her music ministry but we still praise God.

57. Dave and Carolyn Gentry - May 16, 2008

Dear Reba, Dony and Children,
First of all, Dave and I love you all and are praying for you at this time. We were so shocked by the sudden “home going” of your dear mother, Dottie Rambo.
Besides the anointed songs that we have all been so blessed with all these many, many years, I also have some really great memories of Dottie on a personal level that I will cherish forever. Back in the late 1950′s, Dottie and Buck sang in Rolla, MO. My father and mother who were in ministry, also sang a duet that night. I was 12 years old, at the time, and played piano for them. I will never forget that wonderful evening we all enjoyed together. Then, again in 1983, Dottie came into my life, through a Dallas concert, and I was able to personally connect with Dottie through our church, taking her to shop at Victor Costa’s Designer Warehouse. Dottie was an extremely gifted dress designer/seamstress. She was so fun to be with that day, and I feel privledged even now, to have had that special moment to take her shopping for material. During this time frame, Dottie had been given the Dove Award for “We Shall Behold Him.” My….what an incredible anthem to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. She was truly favored of God, to have been given so many songs that changed The Gospel Music World forever.
Much love to all of the family….with prayers for comfort.

58. Laurie Falanga McNeese - May 16, 2008

I have loved Dottie since I was 10 years old and the Rambos would come sing at Faith Church in New Orleans in the late 70′s – early 80′s. Even with all that she had going on, she always remembered me from visit to visit as the little girl who would tag along with her, Reba and sometimes sweet Judy Gossett as they prepared for their show. She has, without a doubt, been the most influential person in my life all these years. I, like everyone here, have faced many a bitter trial and heartbreak in life but often thought “if Dottie can keep going, with all she’s been through, so can I”. I would like to share an impression that came to me as I was crying bitterly throughout this week…especially to Carol in Minneapolis who expressed her disappointment in God’s methods in post number 48 on this page…at first I felt the same way as Carol…”God, what were you thinking??? After all Dottie went through, to be taken in such a rude way???” But then came the realization, via the Holy Spirit I believe…think of the words to Sheltered in the Arms of God:

“So let the storms rage high, the dark clouds rise,
they don’t worry me, for I’m sheltered safe within the arms of God…
I’ll fall asleep, and wake in God’s new heaven…”

We know the bus accident was caused by a raging storm…we know Dottie was asleep at the time of the incident…therefore she, quite literally, went to sleep and awakened in heaven, safely in the arms of God the whole time! The years of physical pain and other adversity never defeated her! She did not succumb, did not give up and give in…the Lord reached down and picked her up when he was good and ready to do so…and he did it quickly and without lingering or suffering for Dottie.

Those of you who were privileged to attend her last performance were in the center of so much anointing, there were, without doubt, angels gathering, preparing and making ready for the event of her homegoing…a very special event indeed, and one she has looked forward to with such anticipation! Finally, her Champion had come!

May we all be blessed with the encouraging words Dottie shared with so many, in person and in song…may we all strive to remember “There’s too much to gain, to lose”…and personally, I hope that when my time comes to go, perhaps Dottie might be with Jesus “Standing by the River waiting for me”.

59. Pastor J.B. Yelverton - May 16, 2008

Since being saved in a Pentecostal church back in 1976, I have immersed my life with great gospel music. There have been many great songwriters, singers and musicians who have contributed much over the years, but without hesitancy I can say that Dottie Rambo was THE GREATEST SONGWRITER that ever penned a song. To be sure, Ronnie Hinson, Bill Gaither, Gerald Crabb, Joel Hemphill and others have made their mark. But the songs of Dottie Rambo continue to be the most powerfully anointed of songs ever written. Songs like “He Looked Beyond My Fault”, “We Shall Behold Him”, “Never Been This Homesick Before”, “Holy Hills”, “Too Much To Gain To Lose” and hundreds of others were written in such a way that it seemed the lyrics were practically lifted right off the pages of God’s Holy Word! Of course, she was also one of the most powerfully soulful singers of our time as well. The anointing on her to share theses gifts was unmistakable and undeniable. I believe that her Pentecostal experience as a young lady was instrumental in shaping and developing her ability to hear from God and communicate the message through her songs. And she did it all with such spiritual clarity! I had the privilege of personally meeting her several years ago. She had such a powerful and engaging, yet sweet personality. For as long as I live, I will listen to her music and her legacy is certainly secure until Jesus comes. We will miss her dearly but we are so thankful that the Lord allowed her to be here to share the heavenly music that was in her soul. We love you Ms. Dottie

We are both so sadened by Dottie Rambo’s leaving this life but rejoice in the fact that she is singing with His Angels in Glory now. Our loss and Heaven’s gain! What a blessing she has been to many souls while here on Earth. Her message in song will forever be remembered. What a lovely lady. She fought so hard for so many years to regain her strength and overcome her back problems. I don’t understand her tragic death in the midst of a storm. I truly hope she went quickly into the arms of Jesus without any more suffering on this earth.
We will be remembering Reba and Donnie in our prayers. We were blessed by their ministry and singing years ago in Arlington, TX and again in a revival in Lake City, TN a few years back.
Donnie & Reba, keep up the good work and ministry in blessing others.
May God Bless.

So wonderful that Ms. Rambo used the gift of music that God had given her, to glorify Him. May The Holy Spirit comfort her family at this time. May God watch over her traveling companions who were seriously injured, and have mercy upon them and their families in their time of need now.

65. Shirley Wilson - May 20, 2008

I have loved Dottie Rambo for years. Her songs are timeless and so annointed by the Holy Spirit. She has finally made it to Heaven. It was a long and painful journey.
Good-bye, Dottie.Your time finally came to behold Him, the love of your life.

66. Galen - May 20, 2008

Dear friends,

I came to Nashville at the ripe old age of 19 yrs old to play piano for this great lady and her family. I was young, and probably not ambitious enough to make the team. I traveled with the group long enough to know that there was something very special about this lady, Dottie Rambo. She oozed with personality, and was the same onstage as off.

That was 35 years ago, and I remember it as if it were yesterday. My group that I started sang Rambo Medleys for years. I tear up just thinking of our loss and heaven’s gain. Thankyou for listening to my words about Dottie. I truly will never forget her.

My heart goes out to the family. I know that Reba has always been her best friend. May God bless your lives through this time of sorrow and know that every special moment any of us had with Ms. Rambo should be treasured.

67. Sharon - May 21, 2008

I had been receiving emails for the past year or so from Dottie Rambo’s Newsletters. I’m so sorry with what has happened to Dottie. I am totally shocked, I can’t put it into words. My husband found the information…She is in heaven’s portals as she’s always wanted to be. I pray she didn’t feel any pain when the accident occurred. The song Sheltered In The Arms of God make so much sense now to me and probably to her now. I believe that’s how He took her.
Thank God for Heaven….

68. Fran Conway - May 26, 2008

REBA,
The world mourns with you in disbelief. We lost the lady who so eloquently penned the words that helped all of us express our love for our Lord in ways we could never do on our own. Our hearts ache for you as you travel this unfamiliar and painful road. We will cherish the memories and continue to sing His praises using the melodies and words of a precious saint whose music helped shape many of us spiritually in ways I do not believe she really ever knew. The most precious times I have spent before God were times that I had Dottie’s music playing in the background. I feel like I lost a friend. Hugs to you and your family.

70. Joy Hoff - June 6, 2008

Dear Reba and family,

How sad I was when I learned of the bus accident that took Dottie’s life.

I first heard Dottie sing while in my early teens while living near Chattanooga TN. I was so impressed with her that I have every album she has made. Those albums can no longer be played because of the years of use and the many scratches. But the memories behind them are awesome. A lot of years have passed and I still have the love of Dottie and her music that I had back then. My life is so much richer because of the songs God gave to her to write.

I regularly received the emails from Larry. I so enjoyed getting news of her ministry and what she was involved with. Although I did not have the opportunity to meet Dottie in person, I feel I have known her personally all my life. I truly loved her and will miss her greatly.

71. OLGA MCCLANAHAN - June 20, 2008

The News of Dottie was a traumatic news. She was the woman
who, inspired many. The first time i saw her, my dad said baby, you
learn some of her song and sing at church. So, i begin to list to radio
to get the words off the radio so i can sing them, the song that stuck
in my mind was REMIND ME DEAR LORD.The things that i love and
hold dear to my heart, are ,just borrow their not mine at all, jesus
only let me use them to brighten my life so remind me, remind me,
dear lord, what a song to be written with such meaning,Roll, back the’
curtain of memory now and then, show me were you brought me,
from and where i could have been …..remind me I m human and
human forget so remind me remind me dear lord.SO ALL I CAN SAY,
SIS DOTTIE ,HAVE LEFT BUT , WE WILL REMIND OURSELVES OF ALL
THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE GOT TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST WITH HER]
ANOINTING MUSIC…..WHAT A LAGACY!!!Olga McClanahan
