From the desk of Beckie Simmons:

Good News! In a telephone conversation today with Judy Ferguson, the wife of Larry Ferguson, manager of Dottie Rambo, there is encouraging news!

First of all, they want to convey their thanks to everyone for their prayers. Larry came thru surgery fine and must be on complete bed rest for the next few days. Judy and their two children have been released from the hospital; however, they are still there spending their days and nights with Larry, as well as with Chris Barnes, Product Manager/Webmaster and bus driver, Ronnie Meadows.

Chris Barnes is improving and has just started blinking his eyes. Surgery will follow as soon as he is physically able. Ronnie Meadows is beginning to respond and is writing notes to communicate. Larry will require an additional surgery within the next few weeks. Your continued prayers and support are greatly appreciated.

The families of those hospitalized are staying in nearby hotels. The extra expense of travel, hotels, eating out, hospital expense, etc. is mounting; so, along with your prayers, contributions of any size would be greatly appreciated. Friends have established a fund in the name of Larry Ferguson at the Citizens National Bank in Springfield, Missouri to help with these immediate expenses, as well as those who are injured. Cards, letters and support can be sent to the following:

2. Crystal Reeves, North Carolina - May 16, 2008

So sad to hear that this accident happened. The Dottie, I learned to love ,and to admire has gone home to be with Jesus and her love ones, and the many ones gone before her. She would be so concerned about all the other’s on the bus that she would want us not to greive her ,But to pray faithfully for all the other member’s of her ministry. I am 44 and yes she has touched my life with her song’s and the one thing that will always be remember of her to me is her humbleness toward the sinner. Dottie truely never met anyone that she didn’t reach out too. She had a talent to write and to sing and GOD gave it to the right one. She did use it well. Please keep us updated on how the rest are doing. I had the pleasure of meeting Larry and Ronnie. I am praying for all of them. Dottie is telling Jesus all about them, and how important they are to her. To Larry, and all the other’s I know that you are sad of the loss. But try and find comfort in knowing you have the greatest witness in heaven on your side. Her heart would be breaking if she was still here and knowing that you guys were hurt. Dottie was a gospel Legend and will be remembered for all her great works for the LORD. Larry, She would want You, Ronnie and Chris to all get well and to carry on in the name of the LORD. Thank You for your ministry ,and all the love you gave to Dottie. To GOD be the Glory for what HE is going to do in the life’s left here after the accident. I know HE has a plan.

Words can never truly express what Dottie Rambo meant in my life. Her music moved the heart and soul of me, and when life got to me, she could bring me back to the reality of Who God truly is in our lives, and that no storm can ever remove His hand from us, instead He guides us though to the other side, and one day we will all be singing with Dottie in Glory if we faint not.
May the family have the blessed peace of God surround them during this time of loss, and may they be able to invision Dottie in Glory with her beautiful smile singing with the angels to the One she loved so dearly Jesus.

4. Nina Spratt Rutledge,TN - May 17, 2008

We have truly been blessed by Dottie Rambo, she will forever live in our hearts. With our memories that we got to share in Taylor Michigan at the Taylor Church of God. The program was called: “Down By The Creek Bank”, and what a blessing it was for my children to sing and share time with her. Thank you Dottie and one day we’ll get to sing with her again. We’re praying for all the crew and the children for a quick recovering. You truly have been Sheltered In The Arms of God.

5. Charlotte - May 17, 2008

Since the early 1980’s Dottie’s songs touched my spirit and drew me closer to God . She made me feel God’s love and see it in her.. When she sang and played her guitar it made me feel like I was surrounded with a warm cozy blanket that i never wanted to give up.
God used her in a mighty way…she reached many souls and showed them what God was all about…and “if that isn’t love” I don’t know what is.
My mom and I had the privilege of seeing her April 19th in Fenton Michigan..what a joy that was and I am so thankful God allowed us to share that special time with her. She will be missed but now is her time to rest. We pray the Holy Spirit will fill her family with peace and comfort and speedy recovery to all who were injured.
Peace and Love from

At first I was very saddened to hear of Dotties passing but it was almost as if I could hear her say”now child Im at home in Glory” I know she would want us to rejoyce. My greatest memory of Dottie was back when Reba and I were about 10 yrs old we were playing after afternoon service In Frenchlick,Indiana.I had went back indoors to see Dottie and she so very lovingly sat me on her lap and began to pray and speak a prophetic word. for as long as I live I hold that memory near and dear to my heart. my thoughts and prayers are with Reba and the family and the entire crew.

7. BettyJean Matthews - May 17, 2008

I know we were all shocked by this tragedy. But the Dottie I knew would want us to try to rejoice in her homegoing. I live in Morganfield Kentucky where Dottie lived as a child. I am talking with our city counsel and trying to get them to have a service to honor Dottie. I also would like to see this county name a street after this gospel legend. To Reba I send great condolences and sympathy.

Please accept our deepest condolences from South Africa. We are all so deeply saddened by this loss… ‘Though we have never had the priviledge of meeting her in person her music formed part of our lives since our school days in 1976. Her written music even much earlier than that! We have grown up on her music and we have learned to know God much more intimately through the beauty of the lyrics she wrote and the songs she sang.

May you draw strength from His love and mercy during this trying time and the days that will follow. Remember always that she was a precious instrument in His service, a very delicate implement in His vineyard. Finally, she is home with the One she has served through her songs and lyrics – her loss is heaven’s gain…
God’s love for you will be supplemented by our humble prayers and love or you.

13. Mrs. Annette Woodside Smith - May 18, 2008

Dear Rambo Family,
For many years, my Pastor Husband, Pastor Al Smith of Philipsburg, Pennsylvania and I have been blessed singing some of Dottie’s wonderfully composed Gospel music. A real favorite I sang at my Dad’s funeral is “We Shall Behold Him.” Today my Husband is critically ill in an Altoona, Pennsylvania Nursing Home and we plan to have it sung at his Homegoing celebration. It will also be sung in memory of Dottie, such a gifted composer of Gospel Music.
Our Son, Kerry Smith has just had the special privilege
of updating Dottie’s web site since the tragic accident.
We want you to know that we will be much in prayer for your family and those involved in the accident, now recovering.
A statement I heard while serving as the Organist at the Highland Lake Bible Conference in New York years ago which was spoken by Dr. Robert Ketchum, a great Bible Teacher has greatly helped me during the trying times of my life. I trust it will comfort you now. ” Ever remember in your hour of deepest need that you serve a God who is
too wise to make a mistake and too loving to be unkind.”

In Deepest Sympathy and Prayer,

Annette Woodside Smith and Family

16. Margie Minton, Poteat - May 19, 2008

Precious Dottie – how I have loved her and followed her ministry down through the years. Anytime she was in a concert that I could attend, I was there. I never got tired of sitting in one of her concerts, meeting her at a busy airport for a quick greeting, watching her on tv, etc. but my very favorite is listening to her music and permitting her anointing to take me directly into the presence of Jesus. I know she is in heaven but I feel like I have lost a sister. She has been a part of our family for a long time and I love singing her songs. Sing to the King, Dottie. I wonder which song he requested first…

17. Karen Sprabary - May 19, 2008

To Reba and her family. Your mom truly had a wonderful gift from our Heavenly Father. The words of her music go straight to our souls. She was a great Lady and will be greatly missed. I will always remember the good times we had with your family in our home and at our church. You and I were young girls then. I know you will miss your mom but she is in a better place today than we are. Lots of love and prayers go to you, your family and friends.

22. Barbara J. Garmon - June 9, 2008

I am so sadden by Dottie’s death. I have seen several references to a book written by Larry Ferguson “Driving Miss Daisy”. Is that still out in print, if so, where would I find it?

Also, I saw part of her services on DayStar, where can I see the entire tribute?
